FUNIBER launches new edition of the international competition PHotoFUNIBER

From today until March 2, those interested can send a photo to participate in the photography contest that will award the winners with graduate scholarships and cash prizes.

Today, photography is already part of everyday life. We communicate through images, either in private messages or on social media. But to what extent do we stop to think and create a photograph? Or do we just press the button that records the moment?

Last year, the Fundación Universitaria Iberoamericana created the first edition of the PHotoFUNIBER photography contest with the aim of creating space to think and tell stories through photographs. With the contest, we hope to make known the diversity of the world in its various spheres.

Due to the success of last year’s contest, when we received more than 3,000 photographs, FUNIBER today launches the PHotoFUNIBER’20 edition. All information about the contest can be found at www.photofuniber.com

Before registering, it is necessary to consult the participation rules, available on the page https://www.photofuniber.com/bases-del-concurso/ where there are specific instructions on the size of the photo, as well as other details about the contest.

Images that tell stories

The photo that participates in the contest must be original, without having been awarded in other contests or commercially exploited.

In order for registration to be accepted, the entrant must indicate the category associated with the photograph. PHotoFUNIBER’20 will receive images from four categories:

  • NATURE: Photographs of natural environments, fauna, flora, water, among other elements of nature.
  • HERITAGE: Photographs of cultural elements such as architecture, dance, gastronomy, crafts, music, etc.
  • PHOTO JOURNALISM: Photographs that express human complexities through people, events and actions that represent human values such as solidarity, cooperation, education and personal development.
  • ABSTRACT: Photographs made with or without digital or artisan manipulation, which represent an original idea, concept or aesthetic.

Selection of photos and awards

The selection of photographs will take place in two phases. In the first, 20 photographs from each category will be chosen as finalists. These images will be in an online gallery on the contest page and will participate in a public vote.

In addition to the public vote, a Jury of Honor, made up of renowned photography experts, will choose the best images from the gallery of finalists.

The contest will distribute 6 prizes, to be announced on May 4. For each category, a winner will be rewarded with € 400 and an 80% scholarship to study one of the graduate programs promoted by FUNIBER.

Photography in each category will also receive the highest number of votes from the public, with a € 300 prize and a 50% scholarship to study one of the graduate programs promoted by FUNIBER.

Special awards

In addition, two special awards will be awarded to university students from the European University of the Atlantic and graduate students with FUNIBER scholarships:

The UNEATLANTICO Special Award will select the 2 best photographs submitted by students and / or former students who graduated from any university degree / diploma at the European University of the Atlantic, with an award of € 200 for each winner.

The FUNIBER Special Award will award the 2 best photographs submitted by graduates with FUNIBER scholarships, who have completed their studies or are currently studying, a prize of € 200 for each one.

Exposure

As in the previous edition, the awarded works, plus the honorable mentions, will be exhibited in the exhibition hall of the Universidad Europea del Atlántico, in Santander (Spain).
